The US-280 Corridor is now active with storms all the way from The Summit southeast of Birmingham to Dadeville.
Booming thunder from that storm near The Summit is clearly audible here in Trussville, a good 13-14 miles away. Sounds like artillery.
The biggest storm is that one near Birmingham. The ones between Talladega Springs and Sylacauga are no pushovers either.
These storms all got their big chance when storms to the northeast that were strong over St. Clair County collapsed and sent an outflow boundary southwestward.
Be alert for heavy rain, gusty winds and dangerous lightning with the stronger storms.
