Wow, what a wonderful day yesterday turned out to be with lots of sunshine as the clouds broke up during the mid-morning giving way to plenty of warm sunshine. A bit nippy this morning with readings around 6 am ranging from the mid 30s to the lower 40s – the kind of temperatures that will put a nice spring in your step.

Bill Murray has exclaimed a perfect weather watch for today and Monday and I think he is right on the money with that. It looks like today and Monday will be nearly perfect Fall weather days with cool, brisk mornings and fine, warm afternoons. And things are still looking pretty good for Halloween though rain chances will be increasing late Tuesday as moisture increases ahead of the next frontal system.

High pressure over the Southeast through early Tuesday will present us with great weather. Tuesday a cold front begins to approach, but the upper level storm system pulls northeastward away from the Southeast and Alabama enough that the front will swing into the area but stick around until Thursday. This should mean a couple of cloudy days with some chance of rain Wednesday and Thursday. I don’t expect this to be an all day rain situation but a showery one with not a lot of rain. Temperatures will be mild with highs in the 70s.

A deepening trough aloft plus a strong surface high over the north central US will help to clean out the moisture on Friday and Saturday bringing us what promises to be another fantastic weekend with temperatures back close to the value from yesterday and today.

And in the long range – or voodoo land – the GFS is now continuing the active weather pattern with another strong storm system and substantical rain event around November 11th.

I wanted to extend a special thanks to the Fall Festival folks in Hamilton for the invitation to participate in their event yesterday. It was a spectacular day to be out talking with people about weather and severe weather safety plus I got to sample some of the wonderful food that was available. Just wished I’d gone for a ride on one of the elephants!! Now wouldn’t that have made a picture?

James will be back tomorrow morning bright and early with the next Weather Xtreme Video and I will be up even earlier filling in for Jason Simpson on Good Morning Alabama. I hope you have a great Sunday and God bless.
