The cold front which came through the area late yesterday has brought some pretty chilly air to Central Alabama as well as very low humidity.
We simply do not forecast highs in the 40s very often, so I took a quick peek at weather data for Birmingham this morning to see how the current cold shapes up. According to National Weather Service information, our coldest high for 2008 was 32 degrees on January 2 with a total of three days with highs below 40.
The ABC 3340 forecast as well as most of the other sources suggest highs only in the upper 40s today. Should that final high today be 48, this would be one of the 17 coldest days of the year.
And with a solid northwest wind in the 10 to 20 mph range, there is no need to think about raking leaves just yet cause they’re flying around nicely!
By the way, a typical November 18th would see a high around 64 based on a 30-year average.
Somewhat useless but interesting information to add to JB’s post below.
