As you can see by the animated radar image above, storms have really exploded over the northern parts of Jefferson and the western and southern parts of Blount County within the past 30 minutes. Along with these storms, the outflow boundary that I posted about earlier has now made it to the southern parts of Jefferson and the northern parts of Shelby County. Current storms may intensify when this boundary makes it to these storms, and more storms may form south of the boundary as it continues to race northward.

A few events have had to be temporarily delayed or stopped due to the expanding storms in Jefferson County. The Harvest In America concert that was ongoing in Gardendale at the amphitheater has to be called due to the approaching storms with the threat of dangerous lightning.

We have also had a few damage reports with a few trees downed in Remlap (Blount County) and in Fayette (Fayette County), where a tree was blown onto a shed.

These storms may hang on for a couple of hours more before finally starting to weaken and dissipate. Some may last into the late night and overnight hours, but most should die down well before midnight.
