The headline is the cold weather expected tonight and tomorrow night across Alabama, which will bring some areas their first freeze of the season, but dense fog is a problem across the southeastern half of the area this morning.
A dense fog advisory has been issued for areas in gray on the map, which includes the following counties in Central Alabama: Autauga, Barbour, Bullock, Chambers, Dallas, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Pike, Russell, and Tallapoosa
Visibilities will be one quarter mile or less in the advisory area through 9 a.m.
For tonight, a freeze warning has been posted for much of the northern half of Alabama. The counties shown in teal are in the freeze warning, including the following Central Alabama counties: Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Randolph, St. Clair, Talladega, Walker, and Winston. The following North Alabama counties are included as well: Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall and Morgan.
Temperatures will drop to between 27F-32F degrees over North Alabama and to between 29F and 32F over the freeze warning area across Central Alabama. This will cause damage to any sensitive outdoor vegetation.
