We said that there might be a last minute surprise from our line of storms tonight, in the form of a couple of damaging wind reports or an isolated tornado, and that happened.
There may have been a brief tornado touchdown in forested areas over eastern Coosa County, southeast of Rockford. It prompted a tornado warning for Coosa and Tallapoosa Counties. That warning expired at 2:30 a.m.
We will continue to monitor for those brief spin up types of tornadoes and the possibility of a stronger storm laying down a damaging wind gust or two.
The line of storms now extends from near Roanoke to just west of Auburn, and Tuskegee and on down to Greenville.
