Bright sunshine is carrying the day across North and Central Alabama early on this last Sunday in February.

The primary cold front is approaching Jacksonville, Florida this afternoon, with a secondary front separating the much drier and cooler air lying back over the I-59 corridor.

Temperatures are in the lower 50s over North and Northwest Alabama, with upper 50s to near 60F in places like Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, and Anniston. Readings are in the 60s further south.

The nearest rain to Alabama is associated with the front over North Florida.

By sunset, readings will be in the 50F range and will quickly fall into the 30s overnight. Overnight lows should range between 31-33F over the Tennessee Valley, between 32-35F in the I-20 Corridor with middle to upper 30s over South Central Alabama.

Monday should be mostly sunny and cool, with highs in the 50s north of I-20, and lower 60s to the south.

Readings should moderate 4-5 degrees on Tuesday, but clouds will thicken late in the day and rain will return overnight.

Rain will be a part of the forecast from there until Saturday morning, unfortunately. Rainfall amounts through Saturday morning should be between 0.25 and 0.75 imches.

Keep an eye on the longer term rain prospects as another wet pattern returns in early March. It looks like there could be 3 bouts of 1-4 inch rainfall amounts in there. By the time it is all said and done, two week rainfall totals could exceed 6-15 inches again across parts of North and Central Alabama.
