NWS Birmingham has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Autauga, Dallas, Lowndes, and Marengo counties in the southwestern parts of Central Alabama until 6:00 pm this evening.
Threats that are possible within the watch locations include damaging winds up to 70 MPH, isolated hail up to ping pong ball size, and an isolated tornado or two.
Text from the SPC: A nearly continuous north/south-oriented line of storms will continue to progress east/northeastward across the region with the possibility of a few additional strong to severe storms just ahead of it. Within a very moist air mass, modestly strengthening low/mid-level winds will support well-organized storms including bowing segments capable of damaging winds and perhaps a tornado or two.
