A line of strong to severe storms are currently moving through the east-central parts of Mississippi and will be moving into the western parts of North/Central Alabama within the next hour or so. The good news is that the storms should weaken considerably by the time it reaches the state line, but one or two storms along the line still may be strong. It may be a noisy midnight for a little while during the overnight hours west of I-65.

At 10:54 pm, a severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for Choctaw and Webster counties in Mississippi for a segment of the line where 60 MPH wind gusts may be possible. This line of storms is moving to the east at 30 MPH.

As I mentioned earlier, the line is expected to weaken considerably as there will be much less instability available in Alabama compared to what is in Mississippi at the moment. The latest run of the HRRR shows that much of the activity will fall apart and diminish before reaching the I-65 corridor. More showers and a few embedded thunderstorms can be expected tomorrow morning after sunrise.
