In response to a question on one of my posts by Sue, I thought I would take a look at the rainy-ness of 2009 so far. Here is what I have found. All data is through yesterday, May 23rd, based on National Weather Service information for the Birmingham International Airport.

For 2009, we’ve had 25.38 inches of rain
Through May 23rd, we are 1.28 inches ahead of the 30-year average
There have been 50 days in 2009 with measurable rain
The highest rainfall total was 3.04 inches on Feb. 27th
March has been the wettest at 6.82 inches
April has been the driest at 2.12 inches
13 of 23 days in May have seen measurable rain
6 days so far have seen rain amounts over 1 inch
(these 6 days account for 44 percent of all rain for 2009)
2 days so far have seen rain amounts over 2 inches

So, astound your friends with your knowledge of rain trivia for Central Alabama! But watch out, some people might think you are all wet!
