SPC has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH for a few counties in the northeastern parts of Central Alabama until 4:00 AM Saturday. Those counties included in the watch are Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Etowah, and St. Clair.
Severe storms are possible across northeastern portions of Central Alabama, generally along and north of a line from Hayden to Odenville to Heflin, through 2:00 am. The main threat will be damaging winds up to 60 MPH.
We are already getting damage reports in from the northwestern corner of the state, including trees and power lines downed due to thunderstorm wind gusts in Muscle Shoals and Sheffield… plus several reports just across the state line in Tennessee.
