You probably saw our post yesterday that NOAA has declared a new El Nino cycle. What does this mean for Alabama? Needless to say, we really don’t know since every El Nino cycle tends to be different, but based on local research from the B’ham NWS office… some things that could happen:
– A higher than normal number of tornados across Alabama in 2010
– Warmer than normal temperatures for the fall and early winter season of 2009/2010
– Cooler than normal temperatures for much of 2010
– Higher than normal precipitation for 2010
– Less than normal snowfall for the 2009/2010 winter season
