Alabama Power Company has a network of 67 automated stations that report rainfall each day. We make great use of their reports.

For the last 24 hours, 58 of those 67 stations reported.

Of the 58 reports, 33 of the stations had measurable rain. According to my Martin-Stewart Elementary School 4th grad math training, that means about 57% (56.9%) had measurable rain.

Does that mean that 57% of the land area in the Alabama Power geographic area got rain?

I don’t know but it is probably a rough (very rough) estimate.

Downside is that 16 of the reports were for rain amounts 1/10th inch or less, hardly enough to settle the dust.

I love playing with stats. Almost as much as Bill Murray loves baseball, James Spann loves BBQ, Brian Peters loves classical music and John Oldshue loves to hunt and fish!
