As you may know, each National Weather Service forecast office puts out their own severe weather outlooks which may be different or similar to what the Storm Prediction Center puts out. While the Storm Prediction Center continues a Marginal Risk for severe storms for the eastern half of North/Central Alabama, NWS Birmingham has decided to remove the Marginal Risk for Central Alabama in their latest Hazardous Weather Outlook. Here is the reason why (from NWS Birmingham)…
The ‘marginal risk’ has been removed. The environment is weakly unstable with minimal deep-layer shear. While batches of showers/storms will move eastward through early evening, this setup should only support gusty (sub-severe) winds and/or small hail.
At this point, it looks like NWS Huntsville is keeping the Marginal Risk up for now.
We still have more storms moving into the western parts of North/Central Alabama from Mississippi that is producing gusty winds and some small hail, but all are below severe limits.
