Showers were redeveloping over parts of Alabama late this morning.
At 11:40, a short line of heavy showers, including some lightning, was over South-Central Alabama from Dallas County, approaching Selma, across Lowdnes County into North Butler County near Greenville.
A lone heavy shower was over East Barbour County approaching Eufaula.
In NW Alabama, nice showers were also developing over Colbert and East Franklin County.
Everything moving NE.

WE GOT SPOILED
Even though it has been very hot for several days, the afternoon dew point has been down in the 50s and even some 40s at times. Indeed, the relative humidity dropped as low as 16% at one place in North Alabama. Not so today. The midday dew point was in the mid and even some upper 60s making it feel like a steam bath. The extra cloud cover, however, is holding down the temperature somewhat today.
(ASTOUNDING) (INCREDIBLE) (HARD TO BELIEVE) WEATHER STATISTIC
As I like to say, “I have been interested in and working in weather since before the first sprig of kudzu came to Alabama.” This weather stat is one like I have never seen before. Since January 2005, Huntsville has missed out on 51.34 inches of rain. That is a full year’s supply.
IS THIS THE WORST DROUGHT EVER IN ALABAMA?
I don’t know. We have had some corkers in the past, but this one surely has to be in close competition. It is difficult to compare droughts, because the population is a whole lot higher in the urban centers now than it was before the turn of the century and even as late as the 1930s and 40s.
