Podcasts have revolutionized the way that many of us receive information. With staggering sales of iPods and iPhones worldwide, the ability to download customized audio content is unprecedented. A large percentage of you own these devices, but some of you are missing out on the opportunity to get rich content for your drive or exercise time. Even if you don’t have one of the Apple mobile devices, you can still listen on your computer.

All you have to do is search out your favorite content on the iTunes Store. Put in the search topic you are interested in. Filter the results by using the pull down Power Search menu and selecting Podcasts. I realized this morning that I didn’t have any civil war podcasts. I did this search and came up with two. All I had to do then was click on subscribe which adds the show to your library. Future shows will be automatically downloaded. You can click on the podcast to open the archive of past episodes and download them.

Then shows are as easy to manage as your songs. The iTunes software and the device will let you know which episodes you have listened to. You can delete them with one click.
Here are my top ten favorite podcasts. It was a hard decision. I subscribe to over 50.

What are yours?

10. The Gestalt Gardener from Mississippi Public Radio
9. Garrison Keillor’s Writers Almanac

4. ESPN’s Baseball Today and Fantasy Focus Baseball
3. This Week in Tech – Leo Laporte long but rewarding weekly show on technology
