An astronomical treat is in store for us tonight!
If you have a clear eastern sky this evening, the moon will be huge. But if you took a photo of it, it wouldn’t be any larger than any other full moon.
It looks larger because of the converging lines of trees and buildings on the horizon and its closeness to the horizon.
Also, in the evening sky tonight, Saturn and Venus will appear to have a close encounter, passing within 3/4 of a degree of each other, or less than the width of your index finger with your arm extended at full length. Just look west at sunset.
Of course, clouds and showers could limit your chances to view these special astronomical features, but I am sure you won’t complain if welcome rainfall shows up in your area.
