The SPC along with NWS Birmingham has decided to expand the Tornado Watch in effect until 10 pm tonight to now include Greene, Hale, Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa counties, along with Blount, Cherokee, Etowah, Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Walker, and Winston counties.
The Tornado Watch also continues until 10 pm tonight for Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan counties in North Alabama.

Our dry, benign weather pattern gives way to a more active pattern starting today. An upper-level shortwave moves through Alabama today and tomorrow bringing some rain to the state this weekend. The beginning of next week will be on the drier and quieter side before an upper-level trough pushes a surface low-pressure system through Alabama on Wednesday, bringing more rain and some storms.
