The cold front that has brought the active weather to Alabama during the past 18 hours is now over East Alabama. It extends from Dadeville to Tuskegee to Troy.

Numerous showers continue to stream northeastward early this morning in about a 200 mile wide stream behind the front across much of Alabama and eastern Mississippi.

The back edge of the rain is slowly moving east across eastern Mississippi this morning. That back edge extends from Corinth to Tupelo to Kosciusko to Brandon. This is about 120 miles west of Birmingham.

It continues to push eastward at 15 mph. Simple extrapolation would put the end of the rain into Birmingham just after noon.

The good news is that the intensity and concentration of the rainfall over West Alabama and eastern Mississippi has diminished over the past several hours.

Winds are now northwesterly behind the front. Temperatures have fallen back into the 50s behind the front with dewpoints now in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

It will be a cool wet morning for festivities in Birmingham, unfortunately, but it looks like most of the rain may be gone by game time for the Magic City Classic. Keep the rain gear handy and have a jacket, because it will be cool, with highs struggling to reach 60 degrees. You will see some peeks of sunsine during the afternoon most likely.

Expect showers at Talladega as well today for the truck race. Sunday weather will be fine, however for the Amp Energy 500.
