HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA: New day, same forecast as we are seeing a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the low 90s. The radar gets active during the afternoon and evening hours, with some strong storms, and a few of them could become locally severe with strong, gusty winds and hail.

Today and tomorrow, the SPC continues to have most of Alabama outlined in “marginal risk” (level 1/5) of severe thunderstorms. The storms will be random and scattered, so it won’t rain everywhere…where the storms form they could produce strong winds and hail, and all summer storms produce tremendous amounts of lightning and heavy rainfall.

Again, this pattern will persist into Thursday and Friday as well.

WEEKEND WEATHER: Look for partly sunny, hot, humid weather Saturday and Sunday with the chance of random, scattered afternoon and evening storms. Chance of any one spot getting wet both days is 40-60%, highs will be in the low 90s for most communities.

NEXT WEEK: We will stick with a persistence forecast. However, we note the upper ridge across the Deep South will be a bit stronger next week with heat levels rising a bit, and coverage of afternoon storms dropping. Highs will be in the low to mid 90s.

IN THE TROPICS: All is quiet with no development expected the next seven days across the tropical Atlantic.
