Wasn’t long ago that we were posting some cold early morning lows with frost across Alabama.

Today, it was a different story. Many communities had highs today that were 10 to 12 degrees above normal for this time in November. We take a look:

81 at Demopolis (3340 Skycam)
80 in Evergreen and Mobile
79 at Fort Payne Airport
78 at Birmingham, Tuscaloosa and DeSoto State Park
77 at Anniston, Montgomery, Muscle Shoals, Albertville

It will be much cooler tomorrow

Off to the west is a cold front. It has triggered a long line of thunderstorms and some of those have been severe. Shortly after 7 o’clock, the line of storms extended from the lower part of Lake Michigan southward to about Chicago, St. Louis, Little Rock, Shreveport and into NE Texas. There is lots of lightning all along the line.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for NW Louisiana and South Arkansas. A Tornmado Watch continues until 10 pm for Central, North and East Arkansas, South and SE Missouri.

Late this afternoon, west of Salem, Ark., one mobile home was destroyed and numerous trees were uprooted. Some of the trees were on houses.

When showers and some thunderstorms reach Alabama after midnight and early Saturday morning, they are not expected to be severe.

Our temperatures will take a plunge of about 40 degrees by Sunday morning, to the mid 30s. Tis the time of year for quick changes in Alabama weather.

Don’t forget Storm Alert XTREME at the BJCC downtown Saturday morning.
