We’re finally in New Hampshire. We left our car in Baltimore and flew up here. It’s still neat to feel the turbulence in Cu clouds, and then to see them from 15,000 feet with the ground behind them (see pictures). Also note apparent mountain-induced clouds in another picture here in NH.
We landed at Manchester, NH, and drove I-93 up to Waterville Valley. This is a very beautiful state. We have a 4,000 foot mountain within a couple of miles (riding ski lift up there while we’re here), and Mt. Washington is only about 25 miles away. It’s nice here, about 68 degrees as of 3 UTC (11 pm EDT). I see it’s 91 in BHM now. But, I’ll keep Alabama! Not only because it’s home and I love it, but the average high in February of this year here was around 25 degrees, and it snowed over an inch on April 15.
Met Dr. William Cotton, a severe storms expert, and got him to sign my copy of his book. Speech is tomorrow!
I will organize, annotate, and load lots of pictures into a flickr slide show once we’re on the road back to BHM (and I figure it out).
Pictures in my New Hampshire post 2 are now working, thanks to James.
