A few notes concerning the status of our radar and SKYCAM network….
RADAR: I just received a note from engineering, and they are expecting to get the parts needed to repair the radar on Friday. Hopefully it will be back in service by Friday afternoon, or over the weekend. ABC 33/40 owns and operates a C Band radar atop Double Oak Mountain, in the northern part of Shelby County. It has served us well in the 11 years we have been on the air, and from time to time it does require some maintenance. While there are no radar images available on the web, you can watch our live stream that features NEXRAD radar data from the NWS office at the Shelby County Airport. Just click on the live stream button on the main ABC 33/40 Weather page… look on the top right.
SKYCAMS: We have two sites down. We have Internet service problems at the Jasper and Inverness sites; we are working on getting service restored, and as soon as they come back online the images and weather data will show up on the web again.
