WARM, DRY: This is a new day, but we have an old forecast. Mostly sunny and warm today with highs in the 80s statewide. The weather really won’t change much through Friday, although we will mention a small risk of a shower over the northwest part of the state Thursday. Some parts of Alabama could touch the 90 degree mark Friday afternoon, close to record levels for mid-April.

THE WEEKEND: While the day Saturday will be warm and dry, a cold front will bring a chance of showers to the state Saturday night and Sunday morning. No risk of severe storms, and probably no thunder. And, unfortunately rain amounts will be light, generally under a quarter of an inch. Many communities across South Alabama won’t get enough rain to measure. After a high in the 85-90 degree range Saturday, the high Sunday will drop into the 70s following the front.

NEXT WEEK: The weather will be dry through much of the week with a warming trend; afternoon temperatures return to the 80s by Wednesday. We will bring in a chance of showers Friday, and global models continue to suggest we have potential for badly needed rain over the weekend (April 25-26)… See the video briefing for maps, graphics, and more details.
