RADAR CHECK: We have some spotty light rain over North/Central Alabama early this morning, but for most of Alabama today will be generally dry with showers this afternoon confined to the far southern part of the state. The day will be cooler with highs mostly in the 70s thanks to a cold front that moved southward overnight.

Clouds will increase tomorrow, and rain will move back into the state tomorrow afternoon over the western counties. Rain will be widespread tomorrow night as a wave of low pressure moves along the stalled front. A few thunderstorms are possible near the coast, but the risk of severe storms at this point looks low. Still, SPC has defined a “marginal risk” (level 1/5) for southern Mobile and Baldwin counties, and across the Florida Panhandle.

THE WEEKEND: Rain end Saturday morning from the northwest, and by Saturday afternoon most of Alabama will be dry with just some lingering rain over the southeast corner of the state. The day will be cool with highs in the 65-72 degree range.

Sunday will be a sunny day with a cool morning… a few colder spots over North Alabama could dip into the upper 30s early Sunday morning. The high will be in the low to mid 70s.

NEXT WEEK: The weather will be dry Monday and Tuesday with a warming trend. Showers and storms return Wednesday afternoon, Wednesday night, and Thursday morning, followed by a dry day Friday. Too early to know if the mid-week system will bring a severe thunderstorm threat… See the video briefing for maps, graphics, and more details.
