I think I get 50 e-mail messages a day from people asking about the status of our radar… I will keep you posted on the progress here…
SKYCAM NETWORK: The Inverness SKYCAM site is operational again… images and weather data are flowing on the web on the SKYCAM page. The only issues now are at Jasper, where it looks like we will have to replace the weather instrument package. We see the video from the Jasper camera fine in the office, but the weather data is not good. Once we get the weather instruments straightened out, we will get it back on the web. And, the weather data at Hamilton seems to be old; we will work on that issue as well.
RADAR: My friends Gary Watkins and Ron Thomas of our engineering department spend a few hours at the ABC 33/40 Doppler Radar site yesterday atop Double Oak Mountain, and while they made some progress the system is still not operational. They expect to head back up on the mountain today, and hopefully we will have it back in service at some point this afternoon and over the weekend. Radar systems are complicated; you can’t run down to the local hardware store and get the parts you need to repair them. Those parts are also very expensive!
