No change in the thinking for the intensifying weather system  that is about to impact Alabama.

The deepening low pressure system is over Iowa early this afternoon.  It will continue pushing northeast and strengthening this afternoon.

Warmer, more moist air is lifting northward into the South.

Showers are increasing over Northwest Alabama and te northern half of Mississippi.

These showers will be joined by some storms as we go through the afternoon and all the activity pushes into Alabama from  the west late this afternoon and tonight.

We can’t rule out a storm or two going strong to severe on us overnight, but instability levels are expected to be low.  So despite strong wind shear, significant severe weather is not expected.

The cold front will push through the state tonight, driving a line of storms through the area.  There could be a brief changeover to snow behind the front as temperatures quickly fall into the 30s.  Snow flurries will be a good possibility tomorrow over about the northern half of the state.  We will monitor the possibility of a few folks getting a dusting of snow from any heavier snow showers.

The biggest news will be the cold, with dangerous readings in the teens Sunday and Monday night with highs struggling to rise above freezing Sunday and Monday.

There is a chance we could see some light freezing rain Wednesday morning, b ut the best chances look like they could be over the Tennessee Valley.  It is another situation we will have to watch.
