John Talbot reports that I-59 Northbound is closed just before Malfunction Junction in downtown Birmingham due to a major automobile accident. Three rescue ambulances were called. Reports say two people were trapped but that one has been extricated. Traffic is at a standstill.

Not sure if the accident was caused by icy conditions or not.
