It is not a very comfortable afternoon for Alabama. A large high-pressure area centered over Kansas continues to push a fresh supply of arctic air into Alabama. The cold front that ended the rain last night has pushed all the way into Central Florida.

Clouds have been in and out today across Alabama. This afternoon conditions varied from partly sunny to complete overcast. There is a bite to the wind since NW winds are gusting as high as 25 mph. The wind chill for most areas this afternoon was in the low to mid 30s, but a wind chill as low as 27 in Birmingham.

We have received a number of reports of snow flurries, but they are too light to cause any accumulation problems. The 33/40 Skywatcher at Marion in Perry County reported flurries. There were also reports from Demopolis and Tuscaloosa. A few flurries were also observed in downtown Birmingham.

Look for a general freeze across the state tonight. Across North and Central Alabama, low temperatures by morning should be between 22 and 25. We expect the old thermometer to recover some tomorrow with highs close to 40.
