So far our projected warm-up is working nicely… Anniston hit 33 at 8:00, and Birmingham hit 33 at 9:00. Other communities along the I-20/59 corridor should be above freezing by midnight, and just a cold rain is likely for Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Anniston, and Gadsden early tomorrow.

However… freezing rain is still possible for much of Northwest Alabama through mid-morning tomorrow. Some of the counties where temperatures will stay below freezing include Pickens, Lamar, Fayette, Walker, Winston, Marion, Cullman, Franklin, and Lawrence. Icy travel will likely continue here through 8:00 a.m. The main issue will continue to be the bridges.

Also… we should note that it will take a little while for the ice to melt, so still use caution if you are driving tonight in the Birmingham metro area, especially north of town.

I will have a full discussion and Weather Xtreme video here by 7:00 a.m…. see you on ABC 33/40 News in a few minutes.
