It involves another line of showers and some thunderstorms. However, not much lightning and the storms are not very strong.
They are lined up along the leading edge of some colder air moving into Northwest Alabama. The line of storms extended from Huntsville to Cullman to Jasper and Tuscaloosa. Main one was over East Walker County.
While it was 58 to 60 along and ahead of the line, it was 45 at Oxford, Miss., and 39 at
Fayetteville, Ark.
The flooding in Alabama last night and today will truly go into the books as a major and very costly event. When I posted the long list of rain totals on the 33/40 Blog today, I overlooked one of the heavier amounts. Here it is:
I live on Poor House Branch on Logan Martin Lake. That is on the
Talladega, County side and is 5 miles South of interstate 20. I had 6 and
1/2 inches of rain in my gauge over night and this morning. That makes a total
of 10 and 1/2 inches at my house since Saturday,, Wayne
