A double line of showers and thunderstorms continues moving east into Alabama. At 5 pm, the leading edge extended from near Huntsville southward to Cullman, to just west of Birmingham and to near Tuscaloosa and Moundville.

Lightning activity seems to be a bit less.

Looks like the afternoon drive (also known as the “rush hour” will be a bit stormy with heavy rain at times.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch continues until 9 o’clock tonight for a number of counties in North and West Alabama. So far, no warnings in Alabama.

This does not appear to be a major threat but expected the unexpected when dealing with strong thunderstorms.
