Check out these conditions across Arkansas tonight…temperatures in the 30s and lower 40s with a severe thunderstorm! 1 inch hail was just reported near Ramsey, which is south of Little Rock. There have been numerous severe thunderstorm warnings over the past few hours.
These storms will move into northern Mississippi and will weaken, but stay tuned. We might deal with something similar after midnight.
Here in Alabama right now, showers and elevated thunder covers a good bit of the northwestern quarter of the state. The main activity extends from Hartselle southward into Walker County. In fact, much of Walker County has thunderstorms right now. The storms are back building down into northern Jefferson County right now. There is a fairly strong storm near Sulligent in Lamar County. These storms will have gusty winds, lightning, heavy rain and some small hail. There is a big storm between Montgomery and Alex City as well.
After the current round of showers in North Alabama passes east, we will see more showers and storms move into the state after midnight. The RPM says we will see heavy thunderstorms after midnight in North Central Alabama. We could see a few warnings in the pre-dawn hours, but the main threat will be hail. The storms will not be surface based. But they will have lots of thunder.
