Heads up Northern Jefferson and Points East…

I have removed all the warnings tonight from this graphic…

This is a bow echo. It is capable of producing widespread damaging winds over an area 10, 20 30 miles across…and 25, 50 or 100 miles long. We’ve seen them before. They are also called derechos. They end up uprooting and snapping tends or hundreds of thousands of trees. Lots of those invariably fall on houses and cars. When it happens in the middle of the night, it is especially dangerous because people are asleep.

It is a preventable tragedy.

When these storms arrive in your area tonight, you have to be in a safe, substantial house or building. Do not be in a mobile home or driving.

Get in the middle of the house, as far away from the outside walls as possible. A basement is best.
