Alabama folks are very tired of angry thunderstorms and rightly so after April 27! Yet, we had to deal with a lot of those again today. There were widespread reports of high wind and hail and plenty of lightning. A number of counties had severe thunderstorm warnings.

Lots of trees reported down in Etowah County. In Cullman County, the Hanceville Police Department reported trees uprooted all across the city with power outages. Hanceville was hard hit on the afternoon of April 27, the same afternoon as the Cullman tornado.

No warnings in effect across Alabama at 2:20. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was still in effect for the North half of Mississippi.

Those mean thunderstorms earlier today could be a blessing in disguise. They created a lot of rain-cooled air which is not as anxious to produce more thunderstorms. So we might get through the rest of this afternoon and evening with fewer (and possibly no) warnings.
