From AFC…

Wildland firefighters from five counties with the Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC) and several volunteer fire departments are battling a wildfire that has endangered several homes and structures north of Hueytown in Jefferson County.

This wildfire, already estimated at over 600 acres, was first reported at 3:00 pm on Saturday. It is burning in timber that was downed by the recent tornados, making the fuel extremely heavy. A combination of the drought conditions, extremely high temperatures, and low humidity is causing the fire to burn erratically and be difficult to contain. AFC firefighting teams from Coosa, Cullman, St. Clair, and Walker counties have been called in to assist the Jefferson County firefighters, and additional resources are expected to be deployed.
