Storms southwest of Atlanta, from Carrollton to Newnan have become quite intense over the past couple of hours. A cell merger west of Newnan as resulted in a severe thunderstorm warning for Heard County GA, which is just east of Randolph County, AL.
The activity is a big blob moving only very slowly. It may edge into eastern Randolph County over the next hour. Lots of lightning and heavy rain with this activity. There are also strong gusty winds.
Another storm is over Randolph County southwest of Wedowee.
Other storms south of Anniston are over eastern Talladega, extending into Clay County. They are mainly between Ashland and Talladega. This activity is pushing southward.
There is an isolated small cell over Northeast Tuscaloosa County, over the Warrior River north of Holt Lake, or northwest of Kellerman. It is moving northwest.
As you can see…everything is moving erratically. All of the storms should dissipate in the next couple of hours, except from the East Alabama storms that could hold together for a little while.
