Parts of East Alabama have gotten some welcome rain tonight from thunderstorms.

They moved into the state from western Georgia and have not been severe.

Nickle sized hail was reported ESE of Moshatt in Cherokee County. Winds were estimated to 50 mph. That storm is weakening now as it moves toward Piedmont.

The main activity extends across Talladega, Clay, Tallapoosa, Chambers, Randolph, Cleburne and Cherokee Counties.

All of the activity is moving south and southwest. It will slowly weaken over the next couple of hours, but areas that do see the storms will get brief heavy rain, gusty winds and dangerous lightning.

Hopefully, the storms will make it into much of Shelby, Coosa and Elmore Counties before dissiptaing.
