Lots of rain-cooled air over much of the state early this evening, quite a change from recent days at this same time.

But it was a costly cool down, Numerous reports of downed trees all the way from Central Alabama into the Northeast part of the state.

Still some active weather across parts of the state this evening but there are no current warnings in effect.

At 7:40 pm more showers and some thunderstorms were streaming northeastward from Central Alabama. The strongest storms, with the heaviest rain were over Dallas County including the Selma area. Numerous showers persist from Dallas County southwestward to southwest of Mobile. Overall, showers and storms are slowly diminishing

Except…

Lightning detection equipment shows much lightning in a cluster of storms over the southeast corner of Mississippi. Those storms will be moving northeast into Mobile County.

Since it has been exceptionally dry, I am sure folks would like to know some rain totals. Will try to post a list by soon after 8 o’clock this evening.
