And the only good that can come from that is some very beneficial rain amounts since the state has been so dry.

The Storm Prediction Center has expanded the slight risk for today. At first, it covered only about the north half of Alabama, barely as far south as Birmingham. That has been expanded now all the way to south of Montgomery.

As 10 am approached, a narrow line of thunderstorms had already formed over NW Alabama. It extended from Southeast Marion County northeast across Northwest Winston County and Southeast Lawrence County to near Decatur. The storms are moving NE while the line itself shifts eastward. Lightning detection equipment shows an increase in activity.

Down south, another group of thunderstorms extended from Montgomery County southwestward to Monroe County.
