Dry, dry, dry for a long time. Now, wet, wet, wet
Again very early on this Thursday morning, loud thunder is waking people up from a sound sleep. Another batch of showers and thunderstorms has moved into West Central Alabama and extending NE to the Birmingham area.
At 2 am, the heaviest rain and the loudest thunder was over North and Northeast Jefferson County. The storms are not severe, just sleep-stealing. And they are moving fairly quickly toward the northeast.
And, I should mention that the Storm Prediction Center, in their new outlook, has placed about the northwest half of Alabama under a “slight risk” of severe weather for today (Thursday) This includes the Greater Birmingham area.
