Storms are forming around the Greater Birmingham area at this hour, including one that is occurring at the Birmingham Airport.
Richard Viola reports a shower at his location which is near Lake View in southwestern Jefferson County.
The strongest storms in the state are over northern Elmore County, extending into Coosa and southern Tallapoosa Counties.
There is a strong one over eastern Randolph County as well. It has triggered a significant weather alert from the NWS. That storm is east of Wedowee.
