That line of strong thunderstorms still moving toward the southeast and headed for Birmingham.

The storms are moving slowly.

At 6:30, the leading edge of the main line of storms now extends from near Cullman, down along the Walker-Jefferson County line into North and Northwest Tuscaloosa.County and finally into South Pickens County.

The storms are still dumping very heavy rain and shooting lots of lightning,

I have been watching lightning detection output closely and I believe I detect a slight decrease in the lightning but there is still more than enough to go around. The line of storms may have weakened a bit also

Still no formal Severe Thunderstorm Warning this afternoon but the storms are dumping very heavy rain and I am sure some very gusty winds.

Earlier, the EMA Office in Marion County reported water over a road just inside Winfield.

This line of storms should be in the Birmingham area by around 7 o’clock or soon thereafter.
