The severe thunderstorm warning has been allowed to expire.

The storms have weakened in the past 30 minutes and are no longer severe. We could still see winds of 50 mph with the storms, which is strong enough to down tree limbs and weaken trees.

The NWS has issued a SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SHELBY, JEFFERSON AND NORTHEASTERN BIBB COUNTIES UNTIL 1000 PM CDT…this is one level below a severe thunderstorm warning.

Other strong storms are entering Northwest Alabama’s Marion and Lamar Counties, pushing toward Fayette County. These storms have had severe thunderstorm warnings on them in Mississippi but have since weakened a bit as well.
