Early today there was a near solid area of rain with embedded thunderstorms all the way across North Central and Central Mississippi. The whole system has been moving almost due east. giving some communities heavy rain.
In fact, the NWS in Jackson issued several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings and at least one Flash Flood Warning earlier this morning.
Just before 10, this area of rain and some thunderstorms had spread well into West Alabama. The main showers were from Marion County down into Pickens and Tuscaloosa County.. This included some heavy showers. Considerable lightning is indicated over Pickens and Marion County and also into West Tuscaloosa County.
The Birmingham area should be getting some of this before 12-noon.
