At 1:25 this afternoon, a short line of showers and thunderstorms was across North Central and Central Alabama. The line extended from NE Jefferson County southward to NE Perry County.

Movement quickly toward the northeast.

1 pm observation from Birmingham Airport indicated a thunderstorm in progress with visibility only 1/2 mile.

Elsewhere, another disorganized line of showers and storms from SE Missouri to east of Little Rock. Not a solid line by any means.

Three cheers for DFW! All of us in the weather world have watched from afar as DFW went through a summer with high temperatures going over 100 for day after day after day after day.. Nice to see the latest from there. They are expecting a high of only 64 this afternoon with a north wind occasionally gusting to 40 mph and a low tonight of 45!
