THIS MORNING: As expected, clouds have lingered through the night across our state, and temperatures are generally in the 40s this morning. We will forecast a clearing sky today, with morning clouds giving way to afternoon sunshine. If the sun returns as expected, the high will be in the low 60s, but if the clouds hang around longer, then we won’t get out of the 50s. A cool north breeze will continue throughout the day.

DRY WEEKEND: Not much change in the overall thinking for the weekend. Sunny days, clear nights. Highs in the 60s with lows in the 40s. Expect upper 60s tomorrow, but Sunday will be cooler thanks to a cool easterly flow and the CAD effect. Some East Alabama communities might have a hard time getting out of the 50s Sunday, and we will also have to watch for the potential for some clouds to work in from the east as well by Sunday afternoon.

PLAYOFF WEATHER: High school football playoff games tonight will be clear and a little on the chilly side. Most games will start out in the upper 50s; temperatures will slowly drop to near 50 degrees by the fourth quarter. No rain is expected whatsoever.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEATHER: For the Alabama/LSU game tomorrow night, the weather will be some of the nicest you could ask for. From start to finish, Saturday’s weather will make it easy to be outside all day; expect a light southeast breeze during the day, a sunny sky, and temperatures topping out around 70 in Tuscaloosa. Game-time temperatures will be near 60, and it will drop down into the lower 50s by the fourth quarter.

UAB will host Houston Saturday night at Legion Field (6:00 p.m. CDT kickoff)… clear weather is the story with temperatures falling from near 61 at kickoff into the 50s by the fourth quarter.

NEXT WEEK: Still looks like the next chance of showers and storms will come Tuesday night into Wednesday of next week. Strong storms will be possible, but at this point it looks like the best chance of severe weather will be west of Alabama on Tuesday. See the Weather Xtreme video for details.

STORM ALERT XTREME: Our annual storm spotter training is coming up on Saturday, November 12 at the BJCC, as part of the Alabama International Auto show. We begin at 9:00, and you will be done at 2:00. And, as a “thank you”, you will get free admission into the car show. There is no cost, and no need to register, just show up. Brian Peters will be the trainer, and we ask all existing and potential Skywatchers to attend. See you there!
