I sure enjoyed a trip down to Linden today… I presented a program on meteorology to the kids at Linden Elementary School. Here are some shots from the trip… you might expect I took the roads less traveled. I drove down through Billingsley, Selma, Safford, and Thomaston. Some of these shots include…
*A group of school kids walking across the historic Edmund Pettus bridge in Selma
*Spanish moss at a Selma cemetery
*The Cahaba River as seen from the Alabama Highway 22 bridge (just a few miles north of the point where the Cahaba flows into the Alabama River, which is also a former Alabama Capital site)
*An old hotel sign along Alabama Highway 5, a sign of busier times back in the 50s and 60s when many used that highway to travel between Birmingham and Mobile
*Hungry cows, a general store, a beautiful old home that burned down recently, a great BBQ joint, and some old buildings that could probably tell a great story if the walls could talk!
Trips like this are good for the soul.
