A storm over the southern Birmingham Metro is growing stronger.
Look at the base reflectivity on the left, showing barely any precipitation reaching the ground.
On the right, you see composite reflectivity, which adds the returns for all levels. You can see lots of precipitation suspended aloft in the updraft of the thunderstorm.
What goes up must come down, and it will come down in the form of heavy rain, hail and strong winds.
Other strong storms are over northeastern Tuscaloosa, southwestern Jefferson and southern Walker Counties in the vicinity of that outflow boundary. They will produce hail, strong gusty winds. Warning coming up.
