Winds gusted to 47 mph at the Birmingham Airport just after 10:15 tonight.
This was caused by the powerful outflow from the storms in the Birmingham metro.
The outflow boundary has raced ahead and extends from Jasper to Hoover to Sylacauga. You can see it as the faint echoes in this radar image.
We will have to watch the storms over Tuscaloosa County. As the outflow overtakes them, they will likely become severe quickly.
